Motorized window treatments replace the manual chain, cord, or wand with a tube motor that lifts, lowers, or tilts on a wall switch, RF remote, smart-home app, or full home-automation hub. We motorize roller shades, cellular shades, Roman shades, woven wood shades, vertical blinds, hardwood and faux wood horizontal blinds, and plantation shutters (tilt only). The motor lives inside the headrail or shutter frame, runs on rechargeable lithium, battery, or hardwired power, and integrates with everything from a single-room Alexa setup to a whole-house Lutron Homeworks system. We are certified installers for both Lutron and Somfy, which is required to honor the full manufacturer warranty.

Lutron RA3, Hardwired
The right call for new construction, renovations where the wall is open, and whole-home integration with Lutron Caseta or Homeworks lighting and HVAC. 6 to 7 year motor warranty plus 5-year electronics. Scheduled-open at sunrise, scheduled-close at sunset by astronomical timer.
Alpha Tubular, Specialty Builds
For sunrooms, screened porches, and wide openings up to 24 feet where the standard motor brands do not have a tube long enough. RF remote and wall switch. 5-year motor warranty. Used for specialty applications, not as the primary system.
Wall Switch, RF Remote, App, Voice
Every motor we install can be operated by wall switch (hardwired or RF), RF remote (handheld), smart-home app (TaHoma for Somfy, Lutron app for RA3), and voice (Alexa, Google Home, HomeKit). We program the right combination at install based on how you actually use the room.
Astronomical Timer Scheduling
The shades follow sunrise and sunset by the calendar, not a fixed clock time. Open the bedrooms at sunrise, close the west-facing great room at 3pm in summer, close everything at sunset. The astronomical timer adjusts month by month so the schedule does not drift with daylight savings or seasonal changes.
Smart-Home Hub Integration
Lutron RA3 integrates with Caseta, Homeworks, Control4, Crestron, plus all major voice assistants. Somfy integrates with Alexa, Google Home, HomeKit, SmartThings via TaHoma, plus Control4 and Crestron via Connexoon. We do the programming at install; you do not need to bring an integrator.
Motor Retrofit on Existing Shades
If your existing roller tube is a standard 38mm or 45mm and the fabric is in good condition, we can swap a manual chain for a Somfy or Lutron motor without replacing the shade. If the tube is non-standard or the fabric is sun-faded, replacement is more cost-effective than retrofit. We tell you which one your shades qualify for at the consult.
Plantation Shutter Tilt Motorization
Tilt motorization on plantation shutters uses a discreet motor in the shutter frame to rotate the louvers open and closed. Most common on tall second-story windows and palladium arches that nobody actually reaches anyway. Available on basswood and poly. See our plantation shutters page.

Somfy rechargeable rollers with standard fabric land $30 to $40 per square foot installed. Lutron RA3 hardwired rollers with premium fabric land $45 to $60. Cellular shades with motorization add $5 to $10 over equivalent rollers. A primary bedroom with three motorized rollers runs $1,800 to $3,500. A whole-house Lutron RA3 system with eight motorized shades runs $9,000 to $18,000. A motorized plantation shutter tilt costs roughly $400 to $700 per opening on top of the shutter price.
Integration depth matters. Standalone Somfy with RF remote is the basic spec. Adding smart-home app and voice control adds 10 to 15 percent. Full Lutron RA3 integration with lights and HVAC is a separate quote depending on the existing system. Book the free in-home measure.
