Ten miles west of our shop, on I-20
Remote control shades, woven wood shades, custom blinds and plantation shutters for Fairfield Plantation, The Georgian, Mirror Lake and the historic blocks off Main Street. We are the next exit east, which is the whole reason our quotes carry no mileage.
The next town west of our own
Our shop sits in Douglasville, about ten miles east of you on I-20. In practice that is a fifteen to twenty minute drive, which changes what we can promise: a measure within a day or two most weeks, an install crew that is not routed in from the far side of Atlanta, and a service visit that does not need a dispatch ticket to justify the fuel. It is also why no part of your quote is paying for the trip.
Fairfield Plantation and The Georgian are lake and golf communities, so the houses lead with glass: tall gable windows over great rooms, sliders onto screened porches, and west-facing walls looking at water that throw glare from four in the afternoon through to sunset. Mirror Lake straddles the county line and tends toward 2000s subdivision builds with deep drywall returns. The historic blocks off Main Street are a different job entirely, with the brick commercial stock built between 1900 and 1929 and the older houses around it carrying tall narrow sash and original casing that nobody should be drilling into carelessly.
Villa Rica earned the "City of Gold" name from the mining that started here in the 1820s, and the two things we hear most often about the houses are glare and reach. Glare because so many of the good rooms face water or west. Reach because the windows worth covering are usually the highest ones. Those two together are why the most common order we write out here is a motor, and the second most common is a natural weave that softens hard afternoon light without closing the view down.
The most-asked question here
If a window is above a stair, over a fixed transom, behind a kitchen sink or sixteen feet up a gable wall, a remote is not a luxury, it is the only way the shade will ever get used. We fit three kinds of drive depending on the house. A rechargeable Somfy motor suits an occupied room, because the tube charges from a wall socket every year or two and nothing has to be opened up to install it. A hardwired motor on Lutron or Alpha Tubular suits a house still at trim-out, where we can get power to the head before the drywall closes. And a plug-in transformer run suits the middle case, where there is an outlet close enough to hide the lead.
Control is whatever you will actually use. A single handheld remote for one room, a wall keypad beside the light switch for a great room, a phone app and a schedule if you want the west wall to close itself before the glare starts. Motors carry a 6 to 7 year warranty depending on brand, motorized orders run 4 to 6 weeks from the measure, and Lutron controller pairing can add another week or two. Installed pricing on motorized roller and cellular shades runs $30 to $60 per square foot. The engineering detail is on our motorization page, and the same crew covers motorized shades in Douglasville on the way back to the shop.
What we fit most out here

Rechargeable, hardwired or plug-in, on roller, cellular and Roman fabrics. For gable walls, stair transoms and anything over a kitchen sink. 6 to 7 year motor warranty.

Bamboo, reeds and grasses that filter hard afternoon light instead of blocking it. The lake-facing default. Unlined for glow, lined when a room needs privacy after dark.

Basswood and poly shutters for the formal rooms and the historic stock downtown, hardwood and faux wood blinds everywhere a slat makes more sense than a fabric.
The lake-facing answer
A room that looks at water does not want a blackout. It wants the light knocked down from harsh to warm without losing what you paid the lot premium for. That is exactly what a woven wood does: the reeds break the sun into something you can sit in at five in the afternoon, and from inside you still read the shoreline through it. On the Fairfield Plantation and Georgian houses we fit a lot of these unlined on the lake side and lined on bedrooms, so one material carries the whole floor and the house does not end up looking like three different decisions.
Because the material is a natural weave, no two shades are identical and no photograph on a screen will tell you what a weave looks like with your own light behind it. So we bring the real racks to the window. Top-down bottom-up is worth asking about on any opening where somebody walks past outside: the top drops for daylight while the bottom stays up for privacy. Woven wood runs $18 to $42 per square foot installed, lead time is 3 to 5 weeks, and it carries a lifetime workmanship warranty. More on the material is on our woven wood shades page.
What the houses here actually need
The houses around the lake lead with glass and most of the good rooms face the water. We tend to pair a solar screen or a woven weave for daytime with something opaque only where privacy genuinely matters, rather than hanging one heavy fabric and losing the view the house was built for.
Golf-community builds like a two-story front and a tall gable over the great room. Nobody is getting a pole to those openings twice a day, so they get motors. We measure the drop, plan where the power or the charge lead hides, and set the limits so the whole wall stops on one line.
Mirror Lake straddles the Douglas and Carroll county line, and the 2000s builds through it have deep drywall returns that take an inside mount cleanly. If your address is on the Douglasville side of the line, our Douglasville shutter page covers the same work from the other direction.
The brick commercial stock downtown went up between 1900 and 1929, and the houses around it carry tall narrow sash with original casing. Narrow louvers and narrow slats keep the proportion right, and we mount off the casing rather than through anything that cannot be put back.
Highway 61 runs north out of town toward Dallas and Cartersville and south toward Carrollton, and Bankhead Highway is US 78 through the middle. Those two roads are our route, so if you are on a stretch of them with no subdivision name at all, we still drive past you weekly.
South and west of town the lots get bigger and the houses get further apart, which usually means fewer privacy problems and more sun problems. Those jobs lean toward solar screen rollers and woven wood rather than shutters, and they are the easiest calls to schedule because the drive is the same.
What window treatments cost in Villa Rica
These are the installed ranges we are quoting in 2026 dollars. Villa Rica pays what Douglasville pays, because it is the same truck on the same morning.
Faux wood blinds land $14 to $20 per square foot installed and real basswood blinds $22 to $32. Woven wood lands $18 to $42. Roman shades land $22 to $48. Plantation shutters land $22 to $45. Motorized roller and cellular shades land $30 to $60, and adding a motor to a blind you already want is $235 to $260 or more for the motor plus $50 to $200 for the controller.
Lead times follow the material: faux wood blinds 2 to 3 weeks, hardwood blinds and woven wood 3 to 5 weeks, motorized 4 to 6 weeks, shutters 5 to 6 weeks. Book the free in-home measure and we will put real numbers against your own openings.

Questions Villa Rica homeowners ask
Yes, and it is the most common motorized request we get on this side of the county. Rechargeable Somfy motors suit an occupied room because nothing has to be opened up. Hardwired Lutron or Alpha Tubular motors suit a house still at trim-out. Motorized orders run 4 to 6 weeks from the measure, and Lutron controller pairing can add 1 to 2 weeks.
Woven wood runs $18 to $42 per square foot installed depending on whether you take an unlined bamboo, a reed or grass weave, or a lined hardwood weave. Lead time is 3 to 5 weeks from the in-home measure. The final number comes from measuring your openings.
About ten miles. We are straight east of you on I-20 in Douglasville, which is roughly a fifteen to twenty minute drive. That is why there is no mileage in your quote and why a service call out here is usually same week or next.
Both counties. We measure in Fairfield Plantation, The Georgian, Mirror Lake, the historic downtown blocks off Main Street, the Highway 61 and Bankhead Highway corridors, and the Carroll County acreage south and west of town.
Usually we would talk you out of it. A wall of glass facing water normally wants woven wood or a solar screen roller for the day and something opaque only where privacy matters, and the two can share one headrail on a dual bracket. We bring real samples and hold them up at the opening before anything is ordered. See our shades page for the fabric categories.
Basswood carries a lifetime warranty against warp and twist. Faux wood and poly carry a 25-year frame warranty plus a lifetime warranty on the lift mechanism. Woven wood carries a lifetime workmanship warranty, and motors carry 6 to 7 years depending on brand.
