"Shades" covers four distinct product categories: Roman shades (fabric, soft pleated), roller shades (fabric, flat-rolling tube), cellular shades (honeycomb construction, energy efficient), and natural woven wood shades (bamboo, reed, grass). Each has its own strengths and the right answer depends on the room, the orientation, and the look you want. We carry all four under one roof and the consult walks you through which makes sense where.
The short version: Roman shades for fabric softness and traditional or modern formal rooms. Roller shades for west-facing UV control and any room that needs a clean modern roll-up. Cellular shades for bedrooms and rooms where energy efficiency matters most. Woven wood for sunrooms, screened porches, and any room where natural texture is the design statement. Most whole-house jobs end up using two or three of the four. We have measured all four into Georgia and Alabama homes since 1996.

Roman Shades
Fabric panels that lift in horizontal folds. Flat, hobbled, or relaxed style. Over 500 fabrics. The right choice for formal living, dining, primary bedrooms, and rooms where the shade itself is part of the design statement. $22 to $48 per square foot installed. See Roman shades.
Roller Shades
Fabric panels that roll on a horizontal tube. Solar screen, light-filtering, or blackout. Dual roller (screen plus blackout) available. The most efficient way to manage west-facing Georgia sun. $16 to $36 per square foot installed. See roller shades.
Cellular (Honeycomb) Shades
Pleated honeycomb construction that traps air for insulation. The most energy-efficient shade category. Single, double, and triple cell options. Light-filtering, room-darkening, or blackout. $20 to $40 per square foot installed.
Natural Woven Wood Shades
Hand-woven bamboo, reed, grass, and tropical hardwoods. The natural-texture answer for Georgia sunrooms, screened porches, and lake-house views. Light-filtering, privacy-lined, or blackout-lined. $18 to $42 per square foot installed. See woven wood.
Cordless Lift, Standard
Cordless is the standard for any child-occupied room. We have not sold corded lift for bedrooms in over a decade. Same lifetime warranty as corded, none of the strangulation risk.
Motorization, Optional
Every shade category we carry can be motorized with Somfy or Lutron. Wall switch, RF remote, smart-home app. The standard for second-story windows and west-facing rooms with scheduled-close routines. See motorization.

Cellular and roller with synthetic fabric handle humidity best. Roman in modern blends is also stable. Woven wood is kiln-dried for humidity, except in direct-splash baths.
