Being a commercial pilot, I sleep most days and fly most nights. Your room-darkening shades fit so snug that the bedroom is finally dark, quieter, and better insulated.

Custom Roman Shades
Hand-pleated Roman shades in flat, hobbled, or relaxed styles. Over 500 fabrics. Light-filtering or blackout lining. Cordless and motorized options.
What Roman shades actually are
Fabric softness with shade structure.
Roman shades are fabric-based window treatments that lift in horizontal folds rather than rolling on a tube. They combine the softness of a curtain with the structure of a blind, which makes them the natural choice for formal living rooms, primary bedrooms, dining rooms, and any room where a hard horizontal slat would feel wrong. We carry three styles, flat (modern), hobbled (traditional), and relaxed (country), in over 500 fabrics from Comfortex, Horizons, and Hunter Douglas.
The questions people search for: how much do Roman shades cost, flat versus hobbled versus relaxed, are Roman shades child-safe, can Roman shades be motorized, what fabric should I pick, do Roman shades provide blackout. Short answers: $22 to $48 per square foot installed; flat is modern, hobbled is traditional, relaxed is country; yes when cordless or motorized; yes with Somfy or Lutron; fabric is personal taste plus what holds up to UV (we recommend treatments based on the room orientation); yes, blackout lining is available on every style and most fabrics.

Styles and options
What you pick from at the consult.
Flat Roman
Modern minimalist style. No visible folds when raised; the fabric stacks cleanly behind the headrail. The right choice for transitional and modern interiors, designer fabrics where the pattern needs to read without interruption, and any room where the shade should disappear visually when up.
Hobbled Roman
Soft permanent folds even when raised, creating a luxurious traditional look. The right choice for formal dining rooms, primary bedrooms in traditional homes, and any room where the shade itself is part of the design statement. Slightly more fabric used so price runs 10 to 20 percent higher than flat.
Relaxed Roman
The bottom of the shade has a soft scoop rather than a straight edge. Reads as undone country or coastal casual. The right choice for breakfast nooks, sunrooms, casual bedrooms, and anywhere the formality of hobbled would feel wrong.
500+ Fabric Options
Solids, prints, linen blends, embroidered patterns, designer textiles. We bring swatches from Comfortex, Horizons, and Hunter Douglas to the consult. UV-resistant fabrics are recommended for west-facing rooms; standard fabrics fine for east and north.
Light-Filtering Lining
A semi-translucent fabric backing that diffuses light without full blackout. The right choice for living rooms, dining rooms, and any space where natural light should still come through during the day.
Privacy Lining
An opaque fabric backing that blocks visibility through the shade. Light still comes through the fabric edges but the silhouette is hidden. The right call for street-facing dining rooms and bedrooms in townhomes.
Blackout Lining
A fully opaque backing for primary bedrooms, nurseries, and media rooms. We use a separate fabric backing rather than relying on the fabric itself, which keeps the front face true to the design fabric color.
Cordless & Motorized
Cordless is the standard for child-safe rooms. Motorization with Somfy or Lutron is available on every style and most fabrics. See motorization.
