The project
East Cobb, Marietta.
An East Cobb master bedroom with morning UV that was bleaching the headboard wall. The homeowners wanted a clean white treatment that would block early sun without going to full blackout drapery. We specified 2.5 inch faux wood blinds in a bright white, with room-darkening privacy slats that overlap when fully tilted closed.

2.5 inch faux wood blinds
Faux wood chosen for the bathroom-adjacent master to handle steam; 2.5 inch louver suits the smaller window scale.
Bright white finish
Matched to the wall trim; bright rather than ivory because the room runs cool and benefits from the optical lift.
Room-darkening privacy slats
The slats overlap fully when closed-tilted, blocking morning UV without requiring a second blackout layer.
The decision behind it
Room darkening without going to drapery.
These owners did not want fabric in the bedroom, which ruled out the usual answer to morning sun. A room-darkening slat gets most of the way there: the slats are cut wider than the gap between them, so a full tilt overlaps rather than leaving a line of light at every rung.
The engineered slat also shrugs off the east-facing heat that was bleaching the headboard wall. Real wood sitting in direct morning sun for ten years will eventually move; faux will not, and it costs less per window, which starts to matter when a house has twenty of them.
