About Lutron
The American brand that invented the smart shade.
Lutron Electronics was founded in 1961 in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, originally as a maker of solid-state lighting dimmers. The brand expanded into motorized shades in the 1990s with what is now the Serena line, and into whole-home automation with the Caseta and RA platforms. Lutron is widely regarded as the reference brand for both lighting control and motorized shades, with motor longevity, acoustic performance, and smart-home integration that competitors have not consistently matched.

Serena 6 to 7 year motor warranty
Lutron Serena motors carry a 10-year limited warranty on the motor and mechanism. That is the longest motor warranty in the motorized shade category; most competitors run 5 to 7 years. Lifetime expectation on the motor itself is 15 to 20 years in standard residential use. Fabric warranties run 3 to 7 years depending on fabric line.
Caseta and RA3 system warranties
Lutron Caseta wireless products (bridge, dimmers, fan controls) carry a 5-year warranty. RA3 processors and wired components carry a 5-year standard warranty with an optional Lutron Service Advantage program for extended coverage. Lutron's tech support is industry-best; we have rarely needed a replacement processor in 20 years of installs.
Battery warranty
Serena rechargeable battery packs carry a 5-year warranty and are user-replaceable when they wear out. Triathlon D-cell shades have no manufacturer battery warranty (the homeowner just changes the batteries). For coastal or vacation-rental installs, the Triathlon battery model often makes more practical sense than the rechargeable.
Our workmanship warranty
On top of the Lutron product warranty, we add our own lifetime workmanship guarantee. That covers the install hardware, the mounting brackets, and any reconfiguration if the homeowner adds new Lutron devices to the system. The warranty is for the life of the original purchaser at the original install address.
